Finally, a blog!

I did it, I finally started a blog! Last night I read my cousin's blog and was inspired! Walker is only 6 months old and already I feel like he has changed so much! I find it only necessary to keep a journal of all the things going on in our life so that I don't ever forget any moments of the awesome experience of motherhood. I take a lot of pictures and I feel like just putting them on Facebook isn't enough... this way friends and family that live out of town can keep track of our sweet, curious, growing boy.

Our last picture as a family of 2
First picture as a family of 3

This picture was taken on Christmas Eve before going to the candlelight service. Walker was almost 4 months old but it is the most recent picture of all 3 of us that I have.

Walker's 6 month picture.
Walker had his 6 month Dr. appointment last Tuesday (2/28/2012). He now weighs 18 lbs 13 oz (74th percentile) and is 28 inches long (92nd percentile) I text my dad right after the appointment and told him some of the "Helm" genes are shining through with that length. His head is still smaller...the nurse said I might have a smaller head. His circumference is 17 inches (33rd percentile. Here is a list of his stats from previous appointments.
Birth: 8 lbs 8.5 oz, 21 inches
2 month: 13 lbs 5 oz (86%), 24.6 inches (95%), head-15.25 in. (22%)
4 monrh: 17 lbs 2 oz (84%), 27 inches (96%), head-16 in. (10%)

The Wednesday before he turned 6 months old we started introducing solids. He LOVES it! He did so good...you would have thought he had been eating for a month. I mixed rice cereal with a little bit of carrots for flavor. He really liked the carrots. A few days later we did green beans. They weren't his favorite. He then had sweet potatoes which he liked and then tonight we switched to bananas. He is doing so well at it.. Im so proud of my little boy.

More please!!!
Chloe is always very close when Walker is eating.

He now has a high chair and it is a lot easier to feed him in it, along with keep Chloe further away. We ordered it off Amazon because Peter and I are always out to find the best price but we really like it!

Along with eating solids, Walker is now a sitting professional. Around 5 months he started sitting for a few seconds at a time...still with a lot of help. Now he does it all by himself. He isn't yet crawling but loves to get on all fours and rock back and forth. The other day he started jumping off his two back feet like he was a bull, bucking. His favorite time of the day is bath time...it is almost as if his body starts to shake with excitement when we walk into the bathroom each night. Last night he reached for the front of his tub and pulled himself to a standing position...YES, standing! I was so shocked my mouth stayed wide open for a few seconds. I thought it may have just been a one time, strong leg moment kind of thing... but tonight he did it constantly. Don't get me wrong I am so proud of him (other than the fact that standing in his slippery tub isn't the most safe thing) but where is my infant boy going? Time is going by way too fast! I feel like he learns new skills every few days.
Well, I think I have written enough for my first post... Im so excited to have a blog and keep track of all the fun things going on in our life!
